Royal Enfield's new 743cc twin is launching in two very different motorcycles. The Himalayan 750 takes it into adventure touring, while the Continental GT 750 gives the café racer a larger, uprated engine. The Himalayan has the fuller specification and an Italian price; the GT still has some important details to come.

Himalayan 750: torque and the travel package

The Himalayan's air/oil-cooled parallel twin claims 63Nm at 5,000rpm, with 90% available at 3,500rpm. Indian specification lists 54hp (40.5kW) at 7,000rpm, a six-speed gearbox and a 224kg kerb weight, measured with oil and 90% fuel. Its 815mm seat and 17.8-litre tank give a more useful picture of the package than the displacement alone.

A 43mm Showa upside-down fork provides 190mm of travel, with 175mm from the linked rear shock. Remote preload and rebound adjustment help account for a passenger or luggage. Wheels are 19 inches at the front and 17 at the rear, with tubeless cast and spoked options. The Indian model has 205mm of ground clearance.

Five riding modes, an IMU, cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control and cruise control are part of the Himalayan's electronics. An adjustable screen, separate rider and pillion seats and a 195kg payload support its travel brief. That is a considerable step up in equipment alongside the new engine.

Continental GT 750: two body styles

The Continental GT uses an uprated version of the same 743cc architecture, though Royal Enfield has not confirmed its output. It will come in faired and unfaired versions, with lower handlebars on the faired bike for a more committed posture. A hybrid twin-pod TFT keeps the traditional two-clock format while adding a modern display.

Red Line, TT Blue and Master Clean are the show colours across the two GT variants. Royal Enfield calls it the brand's highest-performance production motorcycle, but the final power, weight and price will determine how large a step it makes beyond the existing café racer.

Prices and availability

Italian introductory prices for the Himalayan are €7,390 with cast wheels, €7,790 with spokes and €9,290 for the Antarctic Silver flagship with GIVI luggage. Confirmed US prices and dealer dates are still to come, as are US and EU retail amounts for the GT.
