The Diavel V4 now has an S version, and the extra letter brings a meaningful chassis change. Ducati has fitted Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 semi-active suspension to the new model, putting electronically controlled damping around the 1,158cc V4. The standard Diavel remains in the range with conventional suspension.

The same V4, revised response

The V4 Granturismo engine claims 166hp (123.5kW), at 10,750rpm and 126Nm at 7,500rpm. Ducati has revised its electronic control strategies to improve low- and mid-range response, and DQS 2.0 handles clutchless changes. The update is about the way the power reaches the road as well as the peak available.

What the S suspension changes

The S uses a 48mm Öhlins NIX30 fork and an ARX40 rear shock. Smart EC 3.0 adjusts compression and rebound damping according to the riding situation, with spring preload still adjusted separately. It gives the rider an electronic route to changing the suspension character without pretending that damping adjustment replaces setting the bike up for its load.

A lithium-ion battery, heated grips and a dedicated wheel finish join the S equipment list. Ducati quotes 222kg wet without fuel for the S, compared with 225kg for the base bike. Both have a 790mm seat, preserving the low riding position that distinguishes the Diavel from Ducati's taller sporting models.

Styling, display and factory options

The styling takes cues from the Diavel V4 RS, with revised air intakes, tail treatment and wheels. A new 6.9-inch optically bonded TFT supports turn-by-turn navigation. Factory Made expands the paint and equipment choices installed at Borgo Panigale, including Lamborghini Ad Personam colours on the S; those choices sit on top of the ordinary model specification.
