Piaggio's new Typhoon 125 returns with sharper bodywork around a practical city-scooter layout. A wide, flat footboard, 14-inch wheels and underseat helmet space keep everyday use central to the design. The new TFT and Piaggio MIA connection bring its cockpit up to date.

The 124cc single

The Euro 5+ engine is a 124cc, three-valve, air-cooled single with fuel injection and a CVT. Claimed output is 10.5hp (7.8kW) at 7,400rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,200rpm. Its modest capacity and automatic transmission put short urban journeys ahead of motorway travel.

Chassis and practical details

A tubular steel chassis carries a telescopic fork and a rear shock with four preload positions. Braking combines a 220mm front disc with a 140mm rear drum through a hydraulic combined-braking system. That is CBS, rather than an ABS specification.

Seat height is 797mm, with a bag hook on the inner leg shield and room beneath the saddle for a helmet. Black, white, grey and blue are the announced colours. US and Italian retail prices and dealer arrival dates are still to come.
